Sportsman's Fundraiser with John Aldridge

Sunday 22nd November ? 15:00

The afternoon following Liverpool v Man City - Barclays Premier League

Liverpool Football Club is delighted to support a very worthwhile campaign helping raise funds towards restoring the vandalised Hillsborough Memorial Garden - Port Sunlight. Taking place the afternoon after Liverpool play Manchester City in the Barclays Premier League it?s a perfect opportunity for all fans to enjoy quality entertainment, meet LFC Legends whilst supporting a very worthwhile appeal.

The Appeal was officially launched in July to raise £26,500 to restore the Hillsborough Memorial Garden in the village after it was seriously vandalised by three youths who destroyed over 35 metres of Portland stonework. The money will enable the Port Sunlight Village Trust - a registered charity now responsible for the preservation of the village - to replace the damaged Portland stonework, improve security in the garden by fitting a CCTV camera, and increase knowledge and understanding of the significance of the memorial by installing an information panel. The memorial - the first to be dedicated - was erected by Unilever, many of whose employees were affected by the disaster.

The afternoon will include the chance to spend time in one of LFC's biggest fans and most prolific strikers John Aldridge. One of British football's all-time great goal scorers, former Kop fan Aldridge signed from Oxford in January 1987, he took over the great Welsh star's role when Rush moved to Juventus at the end of that season.  'Aldo', as he was nicknamed, proved a huge success, linking up with other new captures John Barnes and Peter Beardsley in Kenny Dalglish's re-shaped team for the 1987-88 season. He scored in every one of the first nine games of that unforgettable campaign and his 26 goals in 36 outings fuelled Liverpool's drive to the title and a record equalling 29-matches unbeaten from the start of the season.

Guests will enjoy:
