Gode råd for røde i Roma

Liverpool Football Club would like to place on record its gratitude to supporters who continue to arrive in Rome ahead of tonight’s Champions League semi-final against AS Roma.

Throughout the current European campaign, the club’s supporters have travelled in great numbers with their behaviour in host countries prompting plaudits and it is hoped that this positive trend will continue in Italy.

In order to assist those who have travelled to Rome, Liverpool officials are involved in ongoing discussions with the Italian authorities aimed at ensuring fans enjoy the best possible experience with safety and security at the top of the club’s agenda as always.

To that end, Liverpool FC would like to provide supporters with the following updated information and would appeal for full co-operation before, during and after tonight’s game:

• Please note, earlier advice suggested using Piazza Campo De Fiori and Largo Corrado Ricci, however, these locations are some distance from the transport meeting point in Villa Borghese. It is suggested supporters socialise at Piazza del Popolo and Piazza di Spagna prior to making their way to the shuttle service
• Supporters are strongly advised to use the available shuttle buses to the stadium, which will run from Piazzale delle Canestre, Villa Borghese, starting from 4pm. Under no circumstances should supporters attempt to walk to the Stadio Olimpico.
• Assurances have been made that the shuttle buses are accessible for disabled supporters.
• Given the large number of Liverpool supporters who have travelled to Rome, it is accepted that the earlier that fans can arrive at the stadium the better, with entrance gates due to open at 5pm.
• Under Italian law, the name on match tickets must match the name on personal ID, and admission is likely to be refused in situations where this is not the case.
• Bags are permitted at the stadium but ticket and bag checks are expected to be long and arduous. Facilities will be available inside the stadium.
• The post-match hold-back is likely to be long, during which time the game will be replayed on a big screen, and the club would ask supporters to remain patient throughout this process. The club has been advised that during the hold-back facilities will remain open.
• Once the hold-back has ended, supporters will be returned to the city via shuttle buses unless on chartered flights.
• The shuttle service will operate once supporters leave the stadium. This will take two runs under full police escort and return supporters to Villa Borghese. Those travelling on organised day trips will have their own transportation available from the stadium to their respective airports.
• Once at Villa Borghese, a number of coaches will be available to transfer supporters to Flumicino Airport. Under no circumstances should supporters attempt to walk back into the city after the match; instead, use the taxis that will be made available.
• In keeping with police advice, supporters should not travel alone or wear colours and their co-operation with the authorities is urged at all times.
• Supporters are reminded to respect monuments of national importance, with a particular emphasis placed on not hanging banners and/or scarves on fountains and statues. Be aware that drinking alcohol on the streets is prohibited.
• Avoid areas in the north of the city, particularly those in the vicinity of Ponte Milvio Bridge, on matchday.
• In addition to the information provided by the Italian authorities, Liverpool would remind supporters not in possession of a valid match ticket not to approach the stadium and seek entry. If detected by the authorities any such supporter will be detained for the duration of the match as a minimum.
• Liverpool FC stewards will be located at the meeting point in Villa Borghese and at the stadium to provide help and guidance where possible.
