Real Madrid fikk avslag
UEFAs kontroll- og disiplinærkomité har avslått Real Madrids forespørsel om å melde på to spillere som allerede har deltatt i UEFAs klubbturneringer denne seosngen. Evt. anke behandles i neste uke.
UEFA opplyser i kveld at at kontroll- og disiplinærkomiteen har vurdert en forespørsel fra Real Madrid om å kunne registrere to spillere som allerede har spilt i en av UEFAs klubbturneringer denne sesongen. Madrid-klubben ønsker å melde på både Klaas-Jan Huntelaar og Lassana Diarra på klubbens A-liste i Champions League.
UEFA bekrefter at dette ble avslått i henhold til artikkel 17.18 i turneringsreglementet. Der står det at bare én spiller som har spilt kamper i en annen UEFA klubbturnering inneværende sesong kan registreres. En eventuell appell på denne avgjørelsen vil bli behandlet i neste uke.

Artikkel 17.17
For all matches from the start of the first knockout round, a club may register a maximum of three new eligible players for the remaining matches in the current competition. Such registration must be completed by 1 February 2009 at the latest. This deadline cannot be extended.
Artikkel 17.18
One player from the above quota of three who has played UEFA club competition matches for another competing club in the current season may exceptionally be registered, provided that the player has not been fielded:
- in the same competition for another club
- for another club that is currently in the same competition.
Furthermore, if the player's new club is playing in the UEFA Cup, his former club must not have played in the UEFA Cup at any point in the current season.
